SUMMARY:Maria Vargas' Home (October 9th - October 18th\, 2023)
DESCRIPTION:Maria Vargas’ home was in bad shape to begin with\, but when Hurricane Lisa hit the village in November 2022\, her home sustained a lot of damage.  Part of her roof blew off\, which we fixed temporarily. The structure itself we were able to also fix with some temporary 2 x 4 beams.  Besides the roof damage\, the floor is rock and mud with old linoleum over top of it.  There are gaps between the wood walls throughout her home and the roof leaks. \nMaria has property on which we can build and a septic system already\, although she does not have an indoor toilet. This home will be a small 20 x 16 house construction project.

SUMMARY:Marcos & Evelyn Sibrian Bakery Business
DESCRIPTION:Marcos and Juana of 63 and 57 years old\, along with their children  Evelyn\, Jenny\, and Francisco bake goods in order to make a living. Juana suffers from diabetes\, Jenny is deaf and mute\, and Francisco is mentally handicap. Today\, they bake goods in their home kitchen and every day Marcos rides along in his bicycle selling the baked goods around the Village of Las Flores. Juana and Evelyn try to sell the baked goods during market days in Las Flores (Tuesdays and Fridays). \nSince this is the only family’s income\, we want to build them a Bakery store front. This project will consist of building a 14×16 feet small structure for their business on their own land. The family plans on using this space to cook and sell food and pastries for more exposure.

SUMMARY:Olivia Castro's House Build
DESCRIPTION:**Please contact us for information regarding cost for trip** \nWe met Olivia when she was walking in the village with her grandson.  She begged us to come and look at her house and that all she needed was a roof.  She explained that when it rains\, she has to move everything in her house because her roof leaks.  We walked with her to her house and found that there was no way that just a roof was going to fix her problems.  The wood in the foundation of the house is rotten and there are holes in the walls where there is no longer any wood.  She does not have an indoor bathroom or a septic system. \n  \nOlivia has five children\, one of whom still lives at home\, she also takes care of one of her special needs grandsons.  Olivia sells baked goods in the village where she walks every day. \n  \nWe were able to get the donations for her home build and want to build this home as a Christmas Present for the Castro Family. We are in desperate need of a team of volunteers to complete this project in December 2022. The tentative dates are December 9th to December 19th\, 2022.
